Around Georgia

So, I'm absolutely horrible about updating. It's been months and I am SO sorry. It doesn't mean that I haven't been taking photos, I've done excellent with that.

Onward to the photos (please forgive me!)

These were take Summer of 2015 (June/July/August-ish)

It is I, Legend! Well.. not in this photo. Ayla's a slacker, but I finally got her to update photos.

Anyways...

Are you familiar with the show The Walking Dead? They film all over in this area and back in June (maybe July) the were filming on the road where Ayla's church is. They even used the church as a base camp for feeding everyone. It was pretty cool. Here's a group of zombies just hanging out at Ayla's car waiting for a bus.

This is the front of Ayla's church. It's called East Griffin Baptist Church.

Over the July 4th holiday, we ended up meeting with some friends of Ayla who live in Marietta, which is north of Atlanta. We went to the Atlanta History Center which has an old plantation and farm like they had back in the 1800s. These were some sheep from the farm.

Have you seen The Hunger Games? If you have, this may look familiar as President Snow's house. It's historically known as the Swan House. It was built in 1928. This is the back of the house.

This is a view from one of the bathrooms overlooking the front garden.

Clay and Ayla ended their day in Atlanta with a stop at Morelli's Ice Cream, known for weird ice cream flavors. Ayla had a Krispy Kreme doughnut flavored ice cream.

In August, one of Ayla's friends got married and vacationed in Savannah, Georgia. They had dinner at The Pirate's House (pictured below) and had dessert here, at Leopold's. It's a well known establishment in Savannah (almost 100 years old!) and the current owner (third generation) is Stratton Leopold, a movie producer in Hollywood. One of his famous and recognizable movies is Mission Impossible 3

The Pirate's House is full of history, more than I can describe, but here's a link: http://www.thepirateshouse.com/history.html

A couple weeks ago, Clay and Ayla went to a hockey game. I wasn't able to go, but they brought me a souvenir! My own Atlanta Gladiators shirt!
